Charming Earl Small RoOster Review

This toy is like crack cocaine for dogs. My dog knows the word "Earl" and will start dancing around once I say it. When she has this toy, she is completely oblivious to the world around her. When I want her to be quiet, I take Earl away and sit him on a bookshelf. She will sit and stare at him, with her lower lip quivering, for at least 15-20 minutes before giving up.

The only reason I give Earl four stars is that this toy is not as durable as it could be. I'm on my second one. I let my dog play unsupervised with the first one and she promptly decapitated it and pulled all the cotton out from the inside (she's a small dog, too).

EARL SQUAWKED HIS LAST BREATHE QUICKLY - W. Baker - Houston TX USA
First the pros - the material with which these dog toys are made is very thick and quite durable. The hand painted features are beautifully done.
Now the con - on Earl the Chick Magnet, the noise making devise is located in the crotch area - easily accessible. Lasted 10 minutes. We also purchased Captain Buzz - that noise maker is in the neck, which is long enough for firm gripping between the teeth for a righteous (and almost immediate) kill of Ole Buzz. My dogs still play with the toys, and they've held up to quite a bit of tugging. Really wish the squeakers would have been more durable. The dogs (Cairn terriers) were being supervised, but still managed to kill the squeakers. Although I must say, we were laughing so hard ...

This is actually my second "Mouse in the House". The cats wore out the first one, and I just recently found the "remains" of the first mouse. I would recommend buying a pack of two extra mice. They haven't torn this one up...at least not yet. When the cats are interested in this entertainment is is quite funny to watch them try their best to get that mouse. We came home from work and found the thing darn near upside down!! I recommend it for all spoiled cats (smile).

The unit measures a big 17.5 X 5.5 X 5. Mouse in the House can be activated manually by pushing the red button, by either a human or a cat, or by setting the timer to activate toy at set intervals. Upon activation the toy emits small animal sounds to signal the cat that the mouse is coming out. The mouse makes two revolutions of the track and then announces he is done for now with a humorous cuckoo sound. This sequence can be set to occur at intervals from one minute to several hours. The mouse operates on a hidden belt with a clutch so if the cat attempts to hold the mouse it will not hurt the mechanism, in fact the clutch will continue to provide resistance further enhancing the reality of the toy until the cat lets it go on its' way to end the sequence. Should the cat hold the mouse for too long the mechanism will turn itself off. The mouse cannot be removed from the toy by the cat, although replacement mice are available and easily installed. Don't Leave your cat alone,. leave a Mouse in the House!

I thought my cat would like this. She catches real mice when they sneak inside the house. She loves Panic Mouse Undercover Mouse and Panic Mouse 360. However, this really doesn't interest her much. The motor is very loud, which doesn't bother her, but annoys me. I think my cat isn't interested because the mouse moves at a constant, slow speed. You can set a timer to regulate when the mouse comes out, but you can't vary the speed.

I have two 5 month old kittens who absolutely love this little gadget, however after only two short days the mouse would no longer stay on the track. There's a door you can open in the back to re-attach the mouse, however having to do this 4x a day isn't convenient. The motor is loud, the electronics get messed up and you have to switch the unit off and on to get it to work. Needs improvement and price is too high. Customer Service is excellent and very helpful.

I bought this toy earlier in the month for my indoor-only cat. My cat loved playing with it the first week, although she never went crazy with it like other cats did as seen on the web videos. Two weeks later, the motor got extremely loud and high pitched whenever the mouse would make its run on the track. I checked the mouse and the track and found nothing abnormal or broken. The motor noise has gotten so bad now, my cat refuses to go near the toy when it is on.

Unless your cat is immune to loud noises, I cannot really recommend this toy to fellow cat lovers unless the company comes out with a better, less noisy and more durable motor (especially at this purchase price).

They ripped the handle part off after about a month or so, but the body of the toy (made from firehose material) is still pretty much intact after almost daily use of being retrieved from our backyard pool.

They are made of dog friendly, pre-consumer, recycled fire hose material and come in a variety of colors. Great for dogs of all sizes! Sqwuggies have a strong sewn-in loop handle for tugging and throwing. Machine washable, too! Size: 9.5" (12" including handle). Available in Yellow, Blue or Orange. Sqwuggies are made from durable firehose material but they are not chew toys. Therefore they are not suitable for heavy chewers or puppies.

It's NOT indestructable! - Micheals -
Within one hour of getting this indestructable toy my dog had the handle tore off, the end tore open and the squeaker tore out. I was expecting it to last a little bit longer. Within a day we threw the remains away.

We purchased this for our dog, whom is 80 Lbs, a power-chewer, and very active/athletic. It was pretty fun for about a week, but not indestructible. The dye began to run a bit when he chewed it for a while. Also it was shreded in about 1 weeks time. Was fun while it lasted but not something I would want to buy a new one of every week. Easily destroyed - R. Messer - Tennessee
I purchased this for my American Pit Bull Terrier and after 15 mins the handle was off, the firehose material shredded, the stuffing out and the squeaker massacred. I dont reccomend this for any breed bigger than a beagle.

Looks are deceiving...this toy lasted about 30 minutes..dont let the made out of "fire hose" fool you..

I was looking for a dog bed that was big, easy to wash, and did have the inners bunch in wads...and, of course be comfy. I have yet to wash this bed yet, but seems well made. My only concern is that it isn't really big enough. I measured and thought it would be, but Fiona is a large Shepherd mix, about 100 lbs., and while her body fits her head and legs do not. The pictures made it look like it was big enough for bigger breeds, but they must be smaller versions of the breed (labs, etc.). So, I would recommend for smaller to medium dogs. By the way, Fiona does like it and uses it in the house, but would be in the dirt outside.

Washable travel or extra bed - C. S. Pichot - Houston, TX
Great for traveling with our Cocker Spaniel, or when we have other dogs visiting our house. The whole thing goes in the washing machine, which can't be said for most dog beds. I wish it packed down a little smaller, but it still fits inside a bookbag with room for a gallon of food a few tennis balls.



Best Dog Bed ever - Jedi's Mom - Stamford, CT USA
I have used this as a travel bed and as a permanent bed for my 2 large dogs. They love to curl up on the bed. Best thing about the bed is it is easy to wash. Just throw it in the washing machine and dryer. No separate cover and liner to deal with.

This bed is soft, comfy, washes easily and packs well for camping trips. Also, when you shake it out, all the dog hair comes off. It's a good size too. I have a shepherd/husky mix and she fits on it with a little room to spare. The only thing I don't like about it is that, while the bottom is water resistant, it's not waterproof. If you have it on wet or really dewy ground, it will absorb some. Other than that, it's great, and my dog loves sleeping on it - at home or on trips.
